"All This Time"
I looked out across
Im thîre edath
The river today
I celon sír
I saw city in the fog and [an] old church tower
Im kenae caras mi i hîth ar gern nost barad
Where the seagulls play
Mammen i aear gwaelrim telia
I saw the sad shire horses walking home
Im kenae i dem trann rokko padad bar
In the [sodium] light
Mi i calad
I saw two [priests] on the ferry
Im kenae tâd bo i medli
October geese on cold winter's night
Narbeleth gwaun bo ringa rhîwor morn
And all this time, the river flowed
Ar pân si luume, i celon siriae
Endlessly to the sea
oio an i aear
Two [priests] came round our house tonight
Tâd tulyae oslye adab onhui
One young, one old, to offer prayers for the dying
Min neth , min ingem, an anna kyermerim an i gwanath
To serve the final [rite]
An buia i manadh
One to learn, one to teach
Min an istim, min an talaf
Which [was] the cold wind blows
Ya i ring gwaew pustar
Fussing and flapping in [priestly] black
koire ar blabad mi morn
Like murder of crows
Ve iâr o crebain
And all this time, the river flowed
Ar pân sen annan, i celon siriae
Endlessly to the sea
oio an i aear
If I [had] my way I'd take boat from the river
Ae im nîn men, im innas hauta lunt od i celon
And I'd bury the old man,
Ar im innas i ingem adan,
I'd bury him at sea
Im innas galas ho na aear
Blessed [are] the poor, for they [shall] [inherit] the earth
Maana i faeg, an hain i ambar
[Better] to be poor [than a] fat man in the eye of needle
An na faeg tûg adan mi i hen o baul
And as [these] words [were] spoken I swore I hear
Ar sui pethrim narn im gwestae im ten
The old man laughing
I ingem adan gladhaad
'What good [is a] used up world and [how] [could] it be
Man maar iuithe am palurin ar ten na.
Worth having'
Iuith garad
And all this time the river flowed
Ar pân sen annan, i celon siriae
Endlessly like silent tear
Oio ve dínen niire
And all this time the river flowed
Ar pân sen annan, i celon siriae
Father, if [Jesus] exists,
Ada, ae cuiar,
Then [how] come he [never] lived here
San tol ro cuinare sí
The teachers told us, the [Romans] built this place
I talaf trenar lye, i care sen
They built wall and temple, [an] edge of the [empire]
Hain care ram ar nost, rîw o i
[Garrison] town,
Tiris,
They lived and they died, they prayed to [their] gods
Hain cuiae ar hain fire, hain kyerme an Iluuvatarim
But the stone gods did not make sound
Nan i gond Iluuvatar il-care echad nella
And [their empire] crumbled, 'til all that [was] left
Ar terhate, mennai pân ta ilya ta crom
[Were] the stones the workmen found
I gondrim i tê edain rada
And all this time the river flowed
Ar pân sen annan, i celon siriae
In the falling light of northern sun
Mi i dantad calad o forodren Anor
If I [had] my way I'd take boat from the river
Ae im nîn men, im innas hauta lunt od i celon
Men go [crazy] in congregations
Edain bad mi rim
But they only [get] [better]
