Galuwen pulled the reins of her brown and white spotted horse through the woods just beyond the boarders of the Woodland Realm. Her home Mirkwood lay just within the deep forest. A strand of red hair fell on her blue elvish orbs as she scanned the area. Orcs had been spotted not far from there. Galuwen was ever watchful but yet in her mind she wondered why King Thranduil had chosen her for this task. When the Mirkwood army was not. Maybe it was because of her relationship with his son. If you can call it that, he seemed to be distancing himself from her as of late. The sun was started it's decent as the sky was a soft shade of reds. She had not spotted anything and was getting to believe that the sighting of the orcs was just false or they had left all together. She pulled the reins to turn to head home. When something told her she was not alone anymore.

Aearwen walked her horse quietly through the woods. She needed time to think and the worries of the world preyed on her mind. The peace she had known was being disturbed more and more as of late by things she only could guess at. Whispers and shadows pulled at the edges and it seemed as though the world was coming undone by darkness.
Undeterred, she continued her pace as she heard the call of "ye geo ennas?" she called in the Elvish tongue as she reigned in her horse gently. Her lilac colored gaze showing concern as her black curly braid poured over her shoulder. Her purple riding gear had green leaves done in embroidery and she scanned the area ahead of her.

Galuwen's eyes spotted a horse and rider just ahead. She smiled and was relived that it was an elf and not orc. She could handle herself in battle, she just did not wish for one. She approached the black haired elf with a smile. "Come to check up on me?" She said with a laugh. Galuwen pulled her horse along side Aearwen's. "Or did the King send you on this foolish task as well. No orcs in sight."

"I came here to think. I did not know there were orcs nearby." she said as she glanced about then back at her childhood friend. She couldn't help smiling, her friends fiery nature reflected in her hair just as her own tranquility showed itself in her raven locks and lilac colored eyes. She paused a moment to line her horse up properly and shrugged.
"Shall we team up?" she asked her as she moved with her friend down the path. She was careful of stones or anything that might trip her mare up, not wanting to hurt the creature.

"I have been in need of that myself as of late." She quickly changed the subject. "There have been reports of orcs nearby, but I have not seen any mellon nin. The king sent me to scout the area. I think he just wanted me out of the palace." She looked at her friend and smiled. "Darkness covers the forest of the Woodland Realm, something is coming I can feel it but I do not know as of what. Yet the king will do nothing but send me on an orc hunt. And the Prince. "She stopped herself at the mention and thought of Legolas. At one time his heart belonged to her but now she was not so sure. Galuwen thinks the king may have something to do with that.
"I would enjoy the company." She said pushing the conversation away from her problems.

Linwelos readied her faithful mount Leithianor for hos afternoon ride. The horse had been with her since he had been born from 2 of the Kings prized horses. He bore a snow white/grey coat with a stormcloud grey mane and tail. His body as crisp as a winters snow and the mane and tail as dark as pending storms in spring. His hooves echoed within the stables as he danced in the aisle way as she swung into the saddle.
A slight nudge of her heels would send the horse rocketing out of the stables and into the surrounding woods near her home. A ride she took quite often as she enjoyed the out of doors in all its serenity. Leithianor for others had been quite the handful to ride and even her father had protested him becoming her mount. But Linwelos had the ability to control the spirited animal that others had lacked. Dark mane and tail whipped through the surrounding forests as the pair raced along the forest river that snaked along for miles that could eventually lead one to the Grey Mountains to the North. Their race through the woods would stop as she would allow her mount to drink from the cool waters as she would look about. Sensitive ears would listen to the sounds about when she caught the sound of voices. Melodic in intonation told her those talking were elf kind, and as she listened further she picked up the voice of her dear Galuwen.
Once Leithianor was finished she would direct him in the sound of the voices and let him walk loosely in the direction the sounds came. As they neared she noticed his ears flick forward when he caught sound of the voices as well which told her it wasn't long until she came upon her dear friend and another elf she didn't seem to be familiar with. As she came upon the 2 elves a smile would light her fair face. The elven princess wore a deep blue traveling dress, customary for her rides. Within the smaller bell shaped sleeves would be a white silken material offsetting the darkness of her riding attire. The skirt split in the front and back for ease in riding in which dark leggings would be worn that dipped down into dark boots that settled within the stirrups. As customary her longsword would be with her as she knew the dangers that lurked within the woods and wouldn't hesitate in a moment to fight to vanquish it. Another thing her ada wasn't too keen about. He still didn't know it was her older brother whom had instructed her how to use a sword as she grew up. Something she was very happy he had done for it had come in handy many a time in the past and would undoubtedly in the future as well.
Saying to the two women, "Mane aure vellyn nîn!" *Good day my friends!*
Hands resting relaxed against her mounts neck as the breeze that would blow between the trees played with those sunkissed strands upon her neck and resting atop her a head a silver circlet with golden flowers scattered around. Within the center of each flower would be a clear crystal like stone except for in the center. The stone there would be deep blue with golden flecks that would play with the light as it shone through the trees.

Galuwen's thoughts stopped as she heard a horse approach. She stood on guard ready to reach for her bow in a moments notice. But relaxed at hearing a peaceful voice. She smiled at the blonde haired she elf. Linwelos and she had grew up together. They were just as close as sisters without being blood relatives. Galuwen was rised by Mirkwood and did not have a family of her own. To her the people and trees were her family. "Linwelos my friend." She said as she patted the maine of her horse to keep it still. She looked over at Aearwen and smiled. "Linwelos this is Aearwen. She had decided to keep me company on my task the King has me on. Yet it seems it may have been a task to get me out of the way." Galuwen's eyes were ever watchful as she talked with her friends. She saw nothing, yet a strange feeling kept coming over her.

Canilye an omenta le, Aearwen. *Pleased to meet you Aearwen* ::The blonde haired elf would say in that melodic voice their kin were known for. A brow would quirk when she heard her friends words and would reply to them.::
Ada nîn anta le si samna an tanca han mentem vanima. *My father gave you this task to ensure it was done right.*
::A brief pause in her words as her mount would shift beneath her, one hoof pawing at the dirt and grass of the forest floor before she would continue.::
Don ten hon quetle hosse ya toi raka dîn kornaidh. Ya isve le nang antam si naeth. Hanya tatha martil o le. *I heard him mentioning a member of the guard who was failing at their rounds. Which is likely how you were given this task. He knows that will not happen with you.*
::A gentle smile would cross her features as she looked from Aearwen to her dear Galuwen and would reply::
Ada nowo taara o le, mellon nîn. *Father thinks highly of you, my friend.*
::And such was the truth. She had been one of the most steadfast and loyal of the guard that kept the borders of Mirkwood safe from the denizens that lurked in shadow. Without fear or hesitation she did what was needed to protect her kin from the onslaught of those who sought harm upon the realm. That also being why the 2 she elves got along as well as they did. They were of like mind in a number of things which made them as close as could be. While her father may not of liked the fact she associated with all the people in the realm she did. For everyone within Mirkwood had their own role to play in its protection and upkeep. Making them just as valuable as those who sat upon the throne to rule.::

"Well it is my duty and privilage to bring you cheerful news then, mellon in." she said quietly in her melodic voice, her dark hair with its blue highlights moving softly in the slight breeze, "Do you sense it?" she asked as she glanced about. Hearing another rider she kept her lilac colored gaze ever alert when the princess arrived. She bowed her head respectfully as she was introduced and nodded, "You honor me, Your highness. I came upon Galuwen while I was in the woods." she said simply as she shrugged her shoulders lightly.
Hearing the princess speak the leather clad woman waited politely. Her own clothing was designed for movement due to the fact that she had not been expecting to run into anyone. Knowing how these woods could be, how the trees could grow angry made her cautious and want to give herself the chance to move if she needed to. Her roan mare snorted and her pointed ears were ever alert for the tell tail signs of something not being right. She did not want to risk anyone getting hurt on her watch. She cared for her friend and her highness too much to let that happen. Besides it gave Galuwen a chance to not feel so embarrassed with the praise she was being given. It was true but she knew that not everyone wanted to hear such things in front of others. It showed how noble the princess was that she was willing to compliment Galuwen in front of a stranger.

Linwelos always knew just what to say to bring a smile upon her elvish features. Maybe it was her upbringing as a princess, or just her peaceful nature. Galuwen knew what was truly underneath her soft angelic personalty. For she had seen her in battle. Many of crimson liquid had fallen from her blades. Galuwen was much more emotional then the princess. Maybe because she was younger. Galuwen had a fire that seemed to pulled everyone to her. Her bow skills were matched only by the prince himself. She had grew up within the palace walls but was not a member of Thranduil house. She was taking in by the princess since she had no family of her own. Linwelos said that the king thought foundly of her. Yet to Galuwen he never showed it. She just noded at her comment. The king does not give his wishes for his son to see her. He told her this himself. And maybe for once Legolas listened. And since then Galuwen had not seen Legolas in over a week. She knew he was not sent on travels. He always told her of such news. She smiled at the new friend and old one just as her scenes went on high alert. She grabbed her bow and an arrow from her quiver just as an arrow pieced the flesh of her horse. The horse fell on it's side along with Galuwen. As soon as she touched the ground she rolled out of the way of the horse as to not be crush. Yelling, "Tiro"(Look!) at her friends. She shot an arrow in the direction the other had came.

Yregh and a small scouting party of orcs made their way through the forests of Mirkwood looking for any signs of the elves. The echoes of hooves told that someone or something was coming. Enough warning to hide behind an outcropping of rocks as several horses passed. One brown spotted and one roan with what looked to be female riders. Should be easy enough to take them the Captain of the small band thought to himself. Once the sound of hooves stopped the best archer in the group would move to where he had a clean shot at one of the she-elves mounts. As the horse fell one of the larger orcs would break from cover and charge towards the group of elves, not realizing the third was there. His dark blade drawn ready to spill blood that day as several others would break their cover and join in the charge.

::Elegantly pointed ears picked up the twang of the arrow being released and immediately reached for the blade she carried with her. Metallic sound as the sword came free of the scabbard when Leithianor rose up onto his hind legs, ears pinned to the back of his head as his front hooves sliced the air before landing once more on all 4 hooves. It took little encouragement for the grey horse to bolt forwards towards the orcs. Nostrils flaring as hard hooves echoed over the forest floor as Lin noticed the look of surprise on one of the orcs faces at the charging horse coming for them. Leithianor wasn't stopping until directed to do so by his rider and the gap closed quickly before the gleaming blade she carried sliced the head of one of the orcs clean from its neck before wheeling about her mount to go after the other that was charging towards Galuwen and her fallen horse. What words she would say to her friend would be spoken later once all was said and done. The most important thing was vanquishing the orcs from their lands and making sure all would be ok once that task was complete.::

Galuwen saw Linwelos spring to action but her mind was on her horse. They had been through a lot together. Her house was a part of her family. It lay still on the ground, with the arrow stuck in his back hind leg. But she had to focus on the task at hand. They were under attack. She quickly took to the trees as to get a better view of what they were dealing with. Running along from branch to branch, firing arrows as she went. Her eyes followed one arrows as it was released from it's bow. Until it found it's target in the neck of an Orc. An uneasy feeling swept over her as if the trees themselves were changing. She stopped on a large branch that was just a few feet as to were Linwelos was spilling blood. Pulling herself back together she released another arrow.

Aearwen was not to be outdone. Her steed was a warhorse and so when it was swarmed by the orcs it did what any warhorse would do. It kicked with its back legs, killing the orc that was trying to hamstring it with a blow to the head that was swift and lethal. The horse reared up and as Aearwen took aim and launched an arrow it struck out with a hoof and killed another orc. Too busy to talk the dark haired elf maiden fought valiantly to defend the princess and her friend.

Legolas was riding along one of the many hidden trails of Mirkwood, when he thought he heard a strange noise, it was distant yes, but it was there. He pricked his ears and heard a horse whinny from the east, followed by the clashing of weapons and the occasional goblin scream. He turned off the trail eastwards towards the sound, even from this far away he moved without a sound.
The sounds were getting louder and louder, he felt close enough to proceed on foot, so he dismounted and silently moved forward, tree to tree, notching an arrow. Legolas was almost overwhelmed by the battle sounds when he saw his first glimpse of fighting, he scuttled closer until he could see the fight closely. There was a wounded horse lying on the ground, a mounted elf being slowly overrun. He saw an orc fall for no apparent reason, and then another one, he looked up and saw an elf firing from a tree. Legolas drew his bow back and stepped out into the open, shot four orcs in the space of three seconds. The elf in the tree noticed him and Legolas thought he saw a smile touch her face. Legolas took down a few more of the foul creatures before they finally realized he was there, but by the time they found where the shots were coming from, Legolas had moved to a different place, this time on top of a burial mound. He shot down six more orcs until they saw him again, they quickly surrounded him and were climbing the mound after him. 'Atleast they were after him now' Legolas thought. He was shooting them climbing but they were coming up too quick and too many, he sheathed his bow and drew his short sword. He hacked and sliced at the orcs but they were overwhelming him, he started to stumble and make mistakes, he was losing this fight, there were just too many.
